Derrick's Helping Hand
As an experienced individual with computer diagnostics, building maintenance, property care and upkeep, I am looking to help some of our local elderly residents with some day to day tasks that have been becoming increasingly difficult for them to do by them selves. Helping the elderly will allow their younger family members to be able to relax within their own home and not have to worry about what needs to be done at their parents or grand parents homes because the dog needs walking or maybe a bag of milk is needed or even authorized medicinal prescriptions need to be picked up.
Sometimes our elderly family members need to be cared for a little more because they have difficulty physically handling the things they used to do like carrying laundry downstairs or having sporadic periods of extreme pain which prevents them from taking the garbage out or even cutting the grass or shoveling snow.
Some other concerns could arise with small repairs of electrical fixtures, a leaking tap, running toilet, a door may be stuck, so give me a call to solve those small issues and let your younger family members have more time with theirs while not having to worry about your property maintenance and day to day chores.

My Objective
With my grade 8 education, lack of trades licensing, lack of current building code knowledge, no tools or vehicle, I am simply looking to help you with any of the above tasks while charging $15 per hour. This rate is far lower than any Contractor will charge you and I am capable of doing these tasks while also assessing whether a tradesmen should be called in due to licensed work requirements. I will also travel to out of town sites if transportation and tools are provided, plus with my current “G” drivers license I could be a driver for supply delivery or worker transportation. A map and knowledge of many Ontario roads from Windsor to Kingston or from Lake Erie / Ontario to Bruce County through my Taxi Driving and living situations, could be of benefit to a busy company.
After working in many different environments I still love the stages of renovations and seeing the finished work and a satisfied customer is paramount to any business. I closed Your Low Cost Handyman after 5 years of seasonal income and the expected birth of my son in 2000, and have continued to work 6 and 7 day weeks since June of 95 until I moved to Kitchener / Waterloo in March of 2010. It seems when I am happy working it becomes an obsession and I often don’t know when to quit unless the job is done.
When it comes to helping people with their needed requirements of maintenance and repairs, I am very handy and can do the task at hand with care to deliver your needed services while always looking at the costs of the repair or maintenance issue even if it involves the need of a specific tradesmen or inspection. All major repairs and renovations will be assessed and the tools needed for those jobs can be rented or purchased and kept by you for future use. Having the tools on hand is a plus to my helping you but should you require specific tools to get the task done there are three ways to get them: (Borrow from a friend or family member you know, Rent them from a local shop, or Purchase them). I will go through these needs with you and find the least costly methods of performing those tasks, should the tasks require tradesmen or inspection prior to me providing any services you will be advised right then and we can access those remedies as they come about. As mentioned in my resume I have worked with several trade specific companies while working my own business and as Superintendant as well as within the Hog Barns and two other industrial distribution and manufacturing jobs. My dedication to the bottom line of cost effective work has been achieved through out my entire life in the several working environments I have been fortunate to learn from over the 35 years of my working history.
